Hotel Arts and DIRTT Environmental Solutions have come together with award-winning B&H CHIL Design to give 28 studio guest rooms a new lease on life.
The new rooms were unveiled in April 2018, boasting a contemporary, art-focused design with a practical room layout – featuring king-size beds, rainwater showers and toilets, custom millwork and bold artistic overlays.
The first foray into hospitality construction for DIRTT Environmental Solutions, the new rooms feature its patented panel walls with flexible modules that can be customized completely to improve form and function. This technique also saves on construction waste as the walls are prepared offsite in DIRTT’s factory before being put together at the hotel.
“This collaboration allows us to leverage our artful aesthetic while maintaining the functionalities of our spaces,” says Hotel Arts general manager Mark Wilson. “A blend that provides a sophisticated, welcoming hospitality experience to our guests with an appreciation for the highest standard of design and service.”
In preparation for the project in January 2018, Hotel Arts donated old furniture and case goods from the original guest rooms to Inn from the Cold.
The seven full bed sets, 27 dressers, 27 desks, 50 nightstands and a large selection of mirrors, curtains, lamps, and chairs from the luxury hotel will be used in the shelter’s supported housing complex, Journey House 2, which will provide a home and life-skills resources to 10 families in need.
