Goals & Outcomes
Modern Environments for Exceptional Patient Care
Cambridge Memorial Hospital started their journey to revitalize their space and execute on a multi-year capital redevelopment project over a decade ago. In 2013, we began working with them to price out this project before diving in the following year. The project consisted of two main phases:
- The creation of a brand new tower
- Renovation of the existing hospital, including a 4-story patient tower
In both phases, current building code requirements needed to be met, and the hospital also needed to ensure they were creating spaces that were designed to adhere to their infection control and prevention guidelines.
Project Partners
The success of this ambitious project was made possible through the collaboration between Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Verto360 and:
- Solutions Partner: DIRTT
- Construction Partner: Ellis Don
- Stantec
Notable Features
These new and updated spaces include enhanced nursing stations, triage areas, operating rooms and more. Several of the solutions and materials incorporated are ideal selections for healthcare environments, keeping staff and patients safe and greatly reducing the risk of contamination and exposures that can lead to infection.
One example of this is seamless millwork, made available through our partners at DIRTT - all 5 sides are seamless, and the seam where the thermofoil meets the backing is on the backside of the surface, where people don’t come into contact with it. This means it doesn’t peel, further helping reduce the risk of contamination.
The Transformation
A Safe and Welcoming Space
With this revitalization project still underway, the transformation is ongoing. With each phase of this exciting initiative, Cambridge Memorial Hospital is evolving as a more contemporary, safe and effective environment for staff and patients alike.
